LIST OF ATTENDEES

The Western Section of the American Society of Plant Biologists will convene its annual winter meeting at Four Points Sheraton, Tucson, Arizona on April 25 and 26, 2009.

Abstract Submission deadline for this meeting has been extended to April 7, 2009.

The Saturday session will include oral talks, presentation of posters and will end with a banquet and social at which Dr. Stephen Goff, Project Director of the iPlant Collaborative, University of Arizona will deliver the Keynote Address. Oral talks will continue on Sunday and the meeting will conclude in the afternoon. These sessions are intended to be inclusive of all areas of plant biology research.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for younger plant biologists to present their work and exchange ideas. Accordingly, each session will include presentations by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. We encourage graduate students and post doctoral fellows to avail of this opportunity. Therefore, the meeting program and organization will be determined only after receipt of abstracts.

Abstracts can be submitted with the intent to present a poster, an oral report, or with that option left to the local organizing committee. Depending on the number of requests for slots in the Saturday/Sunday sessions, some requests for oral presentation time may be accepted as poster presentations. First- and second-place cash prizes of $250 will be awarded for the best oral presentation and the best poster.

The WS-ASPB has allocated funds to provide travel awards to participants (a total of 15 awards, $200 each). If 2 or more participants can car/van pool, we will provide complete support for vehicle expenses.

Registration will remain open until April 25th, 2009.

Four Points Sheraton, where the meeting will take place, is offering special meeting room rate ($85/night + taxes). Additional rate information and reservation details can be found here
