LIST OF ATTENDEES
The Western Section of the American Society of Plant Biologists will convene
its annual winter meeting at Utah Valley State College on February 22 and 23,
2008. The Friday afternoon/evening session will include the presentation of
posters and will end with a banquet and social at which Dr. Richard Jorgensen
of the University of Arizona will deliver the Keynote Address. The Saturday
sessions will be devoted to oral reports of research in progress and a lunch
will be provided at the Noon hour break. The purpose of this meeting is to provide
an opportunity for younger plant biologists to present their work and exchange
ideas. Accordingly, each Saturday session will include presentations by graduate
students and postdoctoral fellows. These sessions are intended to be inclusive
of all areas of plant biology research. Therefore, their organization will not
be determined until after receipt of abstracts. Abstracts can be submitted with
the intent to present a poster, an oral report, or with that option left to
the local organizing committee. Depending on the number of requests for slots
in the Saturday sessions, some requests for oral presentation time may be accepted
as poster presentations. First- and second-place cash prizes of $250 will be
awarded for the best oral presentation and the best poster.
The Western Section is the largest in the American Society of Plant Biologists,
extending
west from the eastern borders of Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico,
and including the three westernmost Canadian Provinces, Alaska and Hawaii. We
are hoping to make this Western Section meeting and all of those that follow
as accessible to all members. Accordingly, we are now attempting to identify
sponsors whose contributions can be used to support travel grants for attendees
who must travel a distance to get to UVSC. Details of the travel grant program
will be provided shortly. However, at this time we ask that all members who
submit abstracts also indicate the one-way distance required for your travel
to the meeting. The current plans for WS-ASPB meetings include the University
of Arizona, Tucson, AZ (2009)
Number of participants will be limited to 120.
