& EDUCATION PROGRAMS - ASPB Member Ellis Participates in NABT K-12 Outreach
Symposium
The Symposium on K-12 Outreach Programs, sponsored by NABT's Pre-College Committee
of the Four-Year College Section, will be held Wednesday, October 11, 9:00 AM
to 4:00 PM, the first day of the annual NABT Conference.
The Symposium's purpose is to gather representatives from universities, government
agencies, and informal science centers from across the U.S. to present their
programs and learn about other K-12 outreach projects. The format of the program
will consist of an all day poster session and contributed talks. The Symposium
goal is to present K-12 outreach programs and ways to assist schools and teachers
to increase scientific literacy and meet the National Education Science Standards
for K-12.
Everyone is invited to attend; however, only attendees who submit a registration
form by September 1 will be listed in the Proceedings volume.
ASPB Education Committee member Jane Ellis will be helping with NABT preparations
for the symposium. Jane said the event, which is coordinated by Judy Day, was
a great success last year. Jane will also be representing ASPB at the Education
Committee's exhibit booth at the NABT Conference.
For additional information on the Symposium, please contact Judy day at Judy_Day@ncsu.edu
