Grandfather Clock Donated to Headquarters
Long-time ASPB member and friend of the headquarters staff Robert (Bob) Rabson and his wife, Eileen, have donated a 1900s-era Austrian clock to ASPB. The Rabsons are moving from Maryland to Wisconsin to be closer to family members. Bob joined ASPB in 1952, and we have welcomed him and Eileen for visits at the ASPB offices in Rockville, MD, many times – especially since Bob’s retirement several years ago.
Bob, a former program director at the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) Office of Science, created a new DoE program to fund basic plant and microbial biology research affecting energy sciences, and he has been an exceptional advocate of plant biology for decades. Bob served as ASPB treasurer from 1989 to 1991, as a member of the Board of Trustees, and on the Publications Committee. He received the Adolph E. Gude Jr. Award in 1986 and became an ASPB Fellow in the 2007 inaugural class.
ASPB would like to thank the Rabsons for their continued support and dedication to the field of plant biology.
