Education Outreach & Broader Impact Opportunities for YOU!

Each year the Education Committee prepares and presents dynamic, interactive plant science booths at a variety of outreach venues.  ASPB members who are passionate about plant science education voluntarily staff the booths. The Education Committee invites YOU to volunteer as an ASPB representative at a booth this year.  Booth Volunteer benefits include:

    • amazing outreach experiences & countless teachable moments
    • free admission to exhibit halls and some conference events
    • easy access to great outreach for conferences near your hometown
    • travel and hotel costs covered in some cases
    • interactions with similarly-motivated colleagues
    • complete orientation on all booth operations from veteran volunteers

ASPB Booths

March       National Science Teachers Association Annual Conference
Dispense ASPB resources and your expertise in order to provide real and practical help to K-12 teachers as they learn to incorporate plant science into their existing curricula and teaching schedules.

Mid-Summer   Plant Biology 2008 ASPB Annual Meetings
Expand your plant science network as you exchange teaching tips, mentoring ideas, research and broader impacts experiences with professional colleagues, graduate students and other plant experts.

October     National Association of Biology Teachers Annual Conference
Share ASPB materials and converse with biology teachers at this conference about effective methods for using plants as model systems, plant science issues and technological advances for the classroom.

February       AAAS Family Fun Days
Greet eager ‘junior scientists’ and their curious parents at this family-oriented event.  Stay busy, busy, busy answering questions, leading hands-on activities, and sharing materials with this fun crowd.
